Last updated: February 27, 2026
Welcome to Split. By downloading, accessing, or using the Split application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using the App. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use Split.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using any part of the Split application, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age, that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be legally bound by them. These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Split.
2. User Responsibilities
You agree to use Split only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not harm others. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Ensuring that the expense data you enter is accurate and not misleading.
- Obtaining appropriate consent before adding other individuals to a group.
- Not using the App to engage in fraudulent activity, harassment, or any illegal conduct.
3. Account Usage
You may create only one account per person. You may not impersonate any other person or use a false identity. Split reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abuse, or become inactive for an extended period. You are responsible for keeping your account information current and accurate.
4. Expense Data and Group Content
All expense data, group information, and balances you create within Split belong to you. Split does not claim ownership of your data. However, by using the App, you grant Split a limited license to store, process, and display your data as necessary to provide the service. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your expense entries and any financial disputes that arise between group members.
5. Payment Disclaimer
Split is an expense tracking and balance management tool. While we facilitate UPI payment links for convenience, Split is not a licensed payment service provider or financial institution. We do not process, hold, or transfer funds on your behalf. All financial transactions are conducted between users through third-party payment providers.
Split is not liable for any failed transactions, incorrect payments, or disputes arising from settlements made outside the App. Always verify payment details before transferring money.
6. Intellectual Property
All content within the Split App — including but not limited to the design, graphics, interface, logos, animations, and source code — is owned by Split and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on any part of the App without our prior written consent.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Split and its developers, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the App.
Split is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure operation of the App.
8. Termination
You may stop using Split and delete your account at any time through the App settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Split at our discretion, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct harmful to other users or to Split. Upon termination, your right to access the App ceases immediately.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of Split after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the App.
